About Us

Founded in 2006 and officially registered in 2008 under registration number KAS/CBO/5/4/2016/533, Slum Child Foundation (S.C.F) is a nonprofit organization focused on child welfare. It operates in Kenya’s urban slums, including Korogocho, Baba Dogo, Huruma, Mathare, and Ngei, to protect the rights of vulnerable and marginalized children in these impoverished communities.
The organization aims to foster positive change in communities affected by poverty, lack of education, violence, and drug abuse. It focuses on substance abuse prevention, children’s rights advocacy, and initiatives to prevent gender-based violence, as well as promoting the empowerment of women and girls. The foundation is also committed to creating programs that support self-reliance and social advancement.
Slum Child Foundation draws upon the personal experiences of its founder, who grew up in the Korogocho slums where the foundation now operates. With deep expertise in social work, S.C.F. works extensively in the areas of child protection and youth substance abuse prevention.
A seven-member board, led by Ms. Pamella Auma, oversees the organization to ensure accountability and efficient use of resources. The founder, George, serves as Secretary to the board and Executive Director. Day-to-day management and reporting to the board are handled by the secretariat, led by the Executive Director. The accounts department, under the supervision of Ms. Lavender Ligalla, ensures financial accountability, with funds allocated and spent according to board-approved budgets.
